Age Groups Improvement#3334

Roblox’s Age Groups, as we’ve all noticed, have significantly hindered UX, especially for games like Flicker which rely so heavily on communication to function. I’d like to suggest a slightly different approach to execute what’s already there, coming from a dev who also sees the implications of Roblox’s questionable actions.

Instead of using multiple places in the game for lobbies and queues, UX could be improved by first prompting the user to select their age group and placing them in servers designated for those groups that way, when queuing, everyone is already in the correct age group and thus can play with their friends or in parties (provided they’ve also selected the same group). The age group the user selects can then be put in a DataStore and checked each time they join to filter them back into an appropriate lobby (it can just be an identical place for each age group). Ensure that a new GUI is added allowing people to change their selected age group and ensure that errors can be corrected.

This is already similar to how it works. Players are already placed in servers with players they can talk to. Modes like VC and Anon do not have enough players to even form games. Under such a change they would be useless (in most cases). If they aren’t already. This really isn’t an improvement and only makes it more likely you’ll play with players you cannot talk to. Also a party system has been in the works for a while now.
